CAMERA Prompts Correction on Hamas Op-Ed in LA Times

CAMERA staff prompted a correction which appears today in the Los Angeles Times on an Op-Ed by Mousa Abu Marzook, Hamas’ deputy of the political bureau. The error and correction, concerning the number of Israelis killed in Palestinian violence during the six-month lull, follow:

Error (Los Angeles Times, Mousa Abu Marzook, Op-Ed, 1/6/09): In the six-month period preceding this week’s bombardment, one Israel was killed. . .

Correction (1/14/09): Israeli deaths: A Jan. 6 Opinion article by Mousa Abu Marzook suggested that only one Israeli had died as a result of Palestinian violence in the six months preceding the current Israeli operation in Gaza. In fact, five Israelis died during that period.

CAMERA first wrote about the Jan. 6 Abu Marzook on the Snapshots blog. CAMERA commends the Times’ for quickly correcting the current Op-Ed, and calls on the paper to finally correct errors from Abu Marzook’s July 10, 2007 Op-Ed.
