(Chicago Tribune, Hugh Dellios, 5/27/01): For the Abu Sultans [of Gaza] and most residents of the most crowded strip of land on the planet, the violence of the Palestinian uprising is that close, that inescapable.
: According to figures from the "2000 Statistical Abstract of the United States," the population density per square mile in Gaza is 7,696. This number compares with 18,634 in Hong Kong, 11,905 in Gibralter, and 72,131 in Macau. Thus, Macau is nearly 10 times more crowded than Gaza!
