Ancient History

Error (Atlanta Journal Constitution, Larry Kaplow, 8/19/02 ): Anger between the two groups [Arab and Jews] goes way back. King David, who was Jewish and is famous in a Bible story for killing the giant Goliath with a slingshot, based his kingdom in Jerusalem 3,000 years ago.

Fact: The Arab-Israeli conflict emerged in modern times and Jewish presence on the land predates that of Muslims or Arabs by more than a thousand years. Goliath was not Muslim nor Arab so the fight for Jerusalem is not an ancient Arab-Israeli conflict.
