(Washington Post, Molly Moore and John Ward Anderson, 3/2/04): . . . Fatah advocated a two-state solution that would remove Israeli settlements and soldiers from the Palestinian territories as they were designated after the 1967 Middle East war. . . .
(5/7/04): An April 2 article referred to “the Palestinian territories as they were designated after the 1967 Middle East war.” No such formal designation was made at the time.
: The Post’s correction could be taken to imply–erroneously–that there was a formal designation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip as “Palestinian territories” at some other time. The West Bank and Gaza Strip were never designated as “Palestinian territories” in any international document or negotiations.
