CAMERA Prompts USA Today Correction on Israeli Arabs

CAMERA’s Washington D.C., office prompts correction of a USA Today article which overstated Israel’s Arab population, which constitutes just over 20 percent of Israel’s total population, as 30 percent. The Feb. 19 article (“Biblical Nazareth goes high-tech thanks to Arab push“) had erred: “Even though the number of Arabs in high-tech jobs is increasing, they still only account for 1% of those employees despite making up 30% [emphasis added] of Israel’s population.”

Following communication from CAMERA staff, USA Today commendably corrected the online article. The corrected article now accurately reports: “Even though the number of Arabs in high-tech jobs is increasing, they still only account for 1% of those employees despite making up about 21% of Israel’s population.”

In addition, editors commendably posted the following highly visible correction at the top of the article:

USA Today has informed CAMERA that a correction will appear tomorrow in the print edition as well.
