After CAMERA contacted the organization about a false statement in a letter about Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, the World Council of Churches has “updated” the letter. The letter, which was sent by WCC’s General Secretary Rev. Dr. Olav Fyske Tveit, stated that “Some prisoners have been in Israeli jails since 1948.”
This false statement is not in the updated version of the letter.
The update was made on April 22, 2014.
