CAMERA prompts
correction of a
Wall Street Journal headline which erroneously stated that "Israel Says It Plans to Build New Jerusalem Settlements" (Oct. 28).
Israel has not built "new settlements" for more than a decade and isn't building new ones now. The story itself refers correctly to "new developments in the Jewish neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo in northern Jerusalem and near the Jewish neighborhood of Har Homa in the south."
The planned homes are part of existing settlements.
The Nov. 18 correction states:
Israel announced plans in late October to build 1,000 new housing units in Jerusalem. A headline on an Oct. 28 World News article about the project incorrectly said Israel plans to build new settlements.
As of this publication, the erroneous headline still accompanies the
online article, and CAMERA continues to urge correction of the Web edition.
The
Journal correction follows the correction of a headline with nearly the identical error in
The Detroit News earlier this week.
