After Contact From CAMERA, NY Times Amends Information on Baby Who Died in Gaza

A May 15 article in the New York Times  (“Uneasy Calm Falls Over Gaza After Israel Kills Scores at Protests“) initially reported that an 8-month-old baby had been killed by Israel as a result of inhaling  tear gas. Below is a screenshot of the original.

After contact from CAMERA, the newspaper amended the article with information that included a Gaza doctor’s opinion that the infant, Layla Ghandour, had died from an unrelated, pre-existing medical condition. Below is a screenshot of the amended article.
