CAMERA Op-Ed: Israel, Palestinians, journalists and the truth

Ethical journalism demands calling out  “From journalists, to journalists: Why reporting on Palestine has to change,” the open letter signed by hundreds of media practitioners for what it is — a declaration of war on our media institutions meant to serve as “the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy.”

But Columbia Journalism Review, the ostensible beacon of ethical journalism, has failed to condemn the frontal assault on journalism’s most basic values.

The free exchange of information has been replaced with the free expungement of inconvenient information. Instead of fighting back against the demise of journalism, CJR takes part in it. Insofar as it represents the gold standard, ethical journalism is finished.
