Credit goes to the Detroit News straightforwardly correcting its error. Why hasn't the Wall Street Journal done the same?
The Detroit News carried an op-ed by Mohammad Elahi, Imam of a large mosque in Dearborn Heights, that defends and attempts to justify Iranian President Ahmedinejad's call to wipe out Israel. Imam Elahi's column is laced with outright falsehoods and unsubstantiated accusations against Israel and compares the Iranian President's words to the American Declaration of Independence.
A column in the Detroit News relied on numerous factual errors to support its call for economic divestment from Israel, yet the newspaper is avoiding its obligation to correct the factual errors in its pages. Though it is legitimate for the paper to publish such advocacy in the opinion pages, it is not acceptable that it allow the false information to pass uncorrected.
