The Wikipedia entry on Palestinian Christian and Fatah member Chris Bandak omits his role in the deaths of two Israelis during the Second Intifada. A book of essays makes the same error. 
Wikipedia's entry on former Bethlehem Mayor Victor Batarseh lacks any reference to his membership in a terrorist organization, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. It fails to mention he was elected with the support of terrorist organizations.
The entry on American diplomat and businessman Charles R. Crane demonstrates Wikipedia's unreliability.
The June 4 letter discusses Wikipedia's shortcomings, and comments on disingenuous criticism by Gershom Gorenberg and others about CAMERA's call for fair-minded people to learn about and edit the often-unreliable online encyclopedia. The letter notes that "those seeking to improve Wikipedia's often-unreliable articles on the Middle East would be targeted for criticism by partisans who might prefer the status quo," and explains Wikipedia's shortcomings. 
Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that allows anybody anywhere to edit, has been described as a "game," a forum where academics and other knowledgeable people who try to contribute are "beaten back" in a world of "part anarchy, part mob rule," and worse. The encyclopedia's problems will not disappear if more good-faith editors participate. But it might help a bit.
