Discredited Qumsiyeh at Center of Davos Fracas

Mazin Qumsiyeh, a former Yale University associate professor of genetics, frequently publishes Op-Eds relying on misinformation to make his case for the replacement of Israel with a "binational state." On Nov. 1, over two months after the error was published, the newspaper finally cleared the record with a correction.

From ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ to Casualty Count, Prof. Qumsiyeh Errs

Mazin Qumsiyeh's July 27 New Haven Register op-ed contained highly distorted and unsubstantiated accusations against Israel. While many of the accusations were of a general nature, Qumsiyeh did make some specific allegations which are demonstrably false.

In its extensive coverage of Israel's targeted killing of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founder and supreme leader of Hamas, the San Francisco Chronicle included an op-ed by Arab propagandist Mazin Qumsiyeh. The column distorted Israeli history in several ways. (The same day, the paper ran its own similarly themed editorial, yet no opinion piece appeared carrying exclusively Israeli views of the Yassin killing.)
