CAMERA’s Annual Dinner took place on April 26, 2009 at Chelsea Piers in New York. The audience heard from keynote speaker Michael Oren, the newly-nominated Israeli Ambassador to Washington, who outlined challenges Israel faces regionally and the strengths that will help it meet the difficulties that lie ahead.
Senator Joseph Lieberman, an outspoken supporter of the US-Israel alliance and co-sponsor of key legislation such as the “Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act” calling for cessation of terrorism and incitement by the Palestinian Authority, received CAMERA’s Emet Award.
The 2009 Letter-Writer of the Year Award was given to Joshua Hasten, prolific and eloquent author of many published Op-Eds and letters (in the New York Times, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, Indianapolis Star, Washington Post, Washington Times, Toledo Blade, Boston Globe, Baltimore Sun, Time Magazine) that have helped educate millions of readers.
