A New York Times story that had erred on the basics of a ceasefire proposal was amended as a result of CAMERA’s outreach to the newspaper.
The initial version of the story, published on June 11, wrongly claimed that phase one of the proposal would include the release of all hostages held by Hamas and an Israeli withdrawal from all of Gaza:
Along with the immediate cease-fire, the first phase of the three-phase agreement calls for the release of all hostages being held in Gaza in exchange for a larger number of Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons, the return of displaced Gazans to their homes and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory.
The amended version correctly notes that
the first phase of the three-phase agreement calls for the release of some hostages being held in Gaza in exchange for a larger number of Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons, the return of displaced Gazans to their homes and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas in the territory.
