CAMERA Letter in Los Angeles Times on Gaza’s borders

CAMERA’s letter in the Los Angeles Times corrects a news article which wrongly reported that “Israel sealed Gaza’s borders.”

The letter follows:

Gaza border is not sealed

Re “Cheney affirms U.S.-Israeli ties,” March 23

“Israel sealed Gaza’s borders after the Hamas takeover,” reports The Times. Actually, Israel has absolutely zero control over the Gaza Strip’s border with Egypt, as January’s massive breach involving hundreds of thousands of Gazans into Egypt illustrated.

Furthermore, on Sunday, Israel provided the Gaza Strip with 74 trucks of humanitarian aid, including vegetables, dairy products, fish, meat, beans, halvah, toilet paper, diapers, coffee, rice, flour, salt, sugar, fruit and oil. If Israel is “sealing” its border with Gaza, it’s making a lousy job of it.
