Will the real John Mearsheimer please stand up?

Professor John Mearsheimer recently coauthored a very controversial study charging that the "Israel lobby" played a critical role in the decision to go to war against Saddam's Iraq, with Jewish officials including Paul Wolfowitz supposedly acting in the interest of Israel rather than the U.S. But just 15 months ago Mearsheimer stated the opposite, saying that Wolfowitz in particular acted in good faith, believing in his "heart of hearts" that "Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and that he was joined at the hip with Osama Biin Laden." The BBC's Board of Governors recently upheld a complaint about a misleading description of UN Resolution 242 found on the BBC Web site timeline of the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The feature has now been partially revised. While the revision addresses only one of the many problems CAMERA has written about, it does represent a start—the acknowledgement by the BBC of imbalance.

Christian Century Magazine Allows Wall Error

Columnist James Wall of Christian Century magazine claimed that Israel's security barrier "completely surrounds" Bethlehem. Although this is patently untrue—even according to PLO maps of the Israeli barrier—editors refuse to correct the error, simply because Wall, a regular critic of Israel, "stands by" his observation.
