In her NBC article posted Apr. 16, 2026, at 7:05 EDT, “Life at the Israel-Lebanon border and Sen. Thom Tillis critiques Trump’s Cabinet: Morning Rundown,” Elizabeth Robinson claimed an Israeli border town was quiet except for the sound of occasional Israeli munitions venturing towards Lebanon. Both Hezbollah and Israel’s Red Alert system prove this wrong.
The first story in the “Morning Rundown” contained the outrageously framed subheading: “One border, two stories: How Israel’s attacks on Lebanon are affecting daily life.”
Immediately, readers were wrongly led to believe that Hezbollah’s actions had nothing to do with the change in daily life for Israelis or the Lebanese. The story then began by comparing life for people in Israeli and Lebanese border towns. Robinson wrote, “The quiet in Kfar Giladi in northern Israel is occasionally punctuated by the noise of outgoing Israeli munitions headed for Lebanon.” (The remainder of the section centered on the impact on southern Lebanon.)
In addition to the misleading sub-heading alone (“How Israel’s attacks…”), Robinson’s sentence about the quiet in Kfar Giladi is factually false.
Hours before Robinson’s article posted, at both 1:46 AM EDT and 3:45 AM EDT, Israel’s red alert system activated for Kfar Giladi, indicating incoming rocket fire. Another alert activated a few hours after her article posted.
While Robinson’s readers were led to believe that any noise heard in Kfar Giladi was the sound of munitions heading from Israel into Lebanon, residents in Kfar Giladi were hearing blaring sirens and missiles incoming from Hezbollah. How Robinson could call a village “quiet,” when its residents had run to shelters multiple times in the hours leading up to her posting the article, is baffling.
One other actor also disputes NBC News: Hezbollah. The U.S.-designated terror organization has a media arm, Al-Manar, which boasted proudly on its website that it had fired rockets at Kfar Giladi prior to Robinson’s article posting.
NBC’s article presented a one-sided, misleading story with false information. Its audience deserves accurate and careful reporting.
