A CAMERA Op-Ed in the Times of Israel explains the latest ploy by The New York Times to influence readers against Israel: Reporters use pejorative labels to describe Israeli leaders in what are supposed to be news stories. 
Nearly every week, The New York Times provides another example of its bias against Israel. The most recent is an article about a meeting of Knesset members with Palestinian president Abbas in Ramallah. Unlike other accounts, Rudoren's article becomes a vehicle to denigrate Israel's leader, with the injection of editorial comments and opinion to portray him as an obstructionist compared to the Palestinian leader who is shown as a peacemaker. 
-That the New York Times views Israel through a jaundiced eye is not news to those who read the newspaper's editorial page. But how does this perspective color news coverage? The newspaper's recent editorial and news article about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's Oct. 1 address to the United Nations General Assembly provide a case study.

The New York Times seems intent on putting the very idea of Israel’s continued existence, the idea of real and functional Jewish national self-determination, up for debate. First it was an Op-Ed by Muammar Qaddafi calling for an end to Israel. Now it's a page one column by Ian Lustick. 
David Kirkpatrick's Sept. 10 article from Egypt, "Visiting Republicans Laud Egypt's Force," was presented as a straightforward news report but read more like an opinion piece advocating for the Muslim Brotherhood. 
An article by Jerusalem bureau chief Jodi Rudoren was published on the front page of The New York Times on Aug. 29. It was about Israeli reaction to the turmoil in Egypt and Syria. And, it was the fifth article by Rudoren this year to include accusations of Israeli societal racism or sexism. 
Times correspondent Michael Gordon recast Secretary of State John Kerry's remarks to reflect the news outlet's preferred views, echoing Palestinian perspectives and largely ignoring the US leader's focus on "end of conflict." 
Recent upheaval in the Middle East has undermined the long-held dogma holding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict responsible for the region's instability. Years of preoccupation with the Palestinians has left the media with a lot of catching up to do.
