CAMERA elicits a commendable AP clarification regarding an article which falsely stated that Israel for years banned construction materials from entering Gaza. The ban applied only to the private sector. The U.N. cites 41,041 truckloads since June 2010. 
Once again, media outlets categorically blame Israel for the death of a Palestinian child killed in "hotly disputed" circumstances. AFP and AP captions ignore information pointing to an errant Palestinian rocket as the culprit, and Reuters issues a commendable clarification. 
When describing the CIA's program of anti-terrorist drone strikes, the Associated Press acknowledges that critics call them assassinations, officials disagree, and avoids weighing in. But when Israel strikes, such nuance disappears. 
Recent press attention has focused on the repatriation of illegal African migrants from Israel. Very little of it has explained the context and difficult challenges facing Israel as a result of large-scale illegal immigration, particularly by non-Jews. None has included mention of Israel's history of welcoming refugees from around the globe. 
What's the difference -- in news media coverage -- between Kashmir and the West Bank? It seems to be that, for the press, the former is "disputed" territory but the latter is "occupied." Yet sovereignty over the West Bank most definitely is unresolved and disputed. 
An erroneous Associated Press statement this week that "Israelis and Palestinians have refused to hold any directs talks" is consistently contradicted by a year of AP articles which repeatedly demonstrate that Israel called for immediate, direct talks. 
After communication with CAMERA, the Associated Press revised a photo caption which grossly understated the terror acts and which severely exaggerated the prison sentence of Hamuda Saleh, one of the prisoners released last week. 
"Illegal occupation," a favorite Palestinian propaganda claim, appeared in an Associated Press dispatch carried by The Washington Times -- to be refuted by CAMERA's letter to the editor. 
Responding to Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress, the AP's Josef Federman wrote a "fact-check" to "counter" the Israeli prime minister's assertions. The wire service story reads more like the spin of a hired public relations specialist seeking to denigrate a political opponent and redirect the audience to a preferred message.
