CNN Tilts Sharon, Arafat Profiles

In celebration of CNN's first 25 years, the network collaborated with Time magazine to broadcast a special highlighting "the top 25 most fascinating people." Ranking 15 and 10 are Ariel Sharon and Yasir Arafat. CNN's treatment of the two leaders is itself fascinating because it gives disproportionate play to Palestinian grievances against Sharon, and downplays Arafat's terrorism.

Kudos to CNN’s Newsnight for Touching Report on Iraqi Jews

CNN's Newsnight on Oct. 20 aired a poignant segment on the rescue of elderly and destitute Iraqi Jews who had been largely forgotten by the outside world until they were visited and helped by Rachel Zelon of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.

Media Survey: Reporting All Sides?

If the circumstances surrounding a man's death are uncertain, media coverage should reflect this uncertainty. But CAMERA's evaluation shows the record is mixed.

Journalists Fall Prey to Palestinian Booby-Traps

In the labyrinth of concrete homes and competing claims that mark Israel's operation in Gaza, the Los Angeles Times' Ken Ellingwood loses his way, straying from the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics in reporting a Palestinian claim as fact. He is joined in this by the Guardian's Chris McGreal on NPR.

CNN’s Terror Coverup

CNN once again obscured the reason for Palestinian terrorism by not even once mentioning the sustained campaign of hatred and incitement against Jews and Israelis that has been a staple of Palestinian newspapers, radio, television, mosques, classrooms and summer camps. Instead of exploring for viewers the horrifically effective Palestinian brainwashing campaign that has convinced so many Palestinians to kill and be killed, CNN in effect blamed Israel for the suicide bombings.

Coverage of Unwitting Palestinian Boy-Bomber

The exploitation of Palestinian children in attacks against Israel is a troubling trend which deserves media coverage. Yet, some news outlets did not even cover the story of 11-year-old Abdullah Quran. Others, most notably the Boston Globe and MSNBC's "The Abrams Report," gave the incident the prominence it deserved.

CNN’s “Palestinian Swimmer” Story Sinks

CNN recently reported the sad tale of Palestinian Olympic hopeful Raad Awisat, whose makeshift swimming pool and training facilities in his hometown are far less favorable than those he once enjoyed at Jerusalem's YMCA, which boasts a half Olympic-sized swimming pool and modern weight-room. The culprit in the story, according to reporter John Vause's clear implication, was Israel.

CNN.com Mangles Facts in Jerusalem Feature

CNN adopts an inappropriate partisan stance, twisting historical facts, excluding issues crucial to understanding the status of Jerusalem.and minimizing the city's sacred status in Judaism.
