CAMERA communication with the Washington Post prompted a correction on the status of the Western Wall in Judaism. The error and correction follow: 
The Palestinian Authority and its president, Mahmoud Abbas — moderate, or relative moderate? The Washington Post recently referred to Abbas' Fatah movement as "Hamas' relatively moderate rival." But "relative" to Hamas does not mean "moderate." 
The media readily conveyed United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's condemnation of how Israel carried out its Gaza operation. But there is more to the story than meets the news consumer's eye. 
A president calls another country "a black and dirty microbe" and "a savage animal." When is that mere "criticism"? For the Washington Post, when the president is Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the other country is Israel. 
A 19-month CAMERA study of guest Op-Eds about the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Washington Post, New York Times and Los Angeles Times found that pro-Arab Op-Eds and/or those critical of Israel overwhelmingly outnumbered pro-Israel Op-Eds and/or those critical of Arabs. No Op-Ed by an Israeli official appeared, though there were four Op-Eds by Arab officials. 
After a writer accuses "the Jews" of being the biggest players in the global culture of violence that is destroying humanity, the Washingtonpost.com and Newsweek moderators apologize: "The Gandhi post failed to comply with [our] mission ... We regret the initial posting, and we apologize for the episode."
