CNN's failure to fact-check this egregious falsehood means the network's viewers are misinformed. The newspaper of record places Israel on the border between Gaza and Egypt, ignores prominent legal scholars on Gaza "occupation," and seemingly invents an authoritative legal definition of human shields. 
Thanks to its partisan journalist Robert Mackey, The New York Times is loaded with the type of extremists who cheer the death of Israelis, rant about the "Zionist butcher regime," and call for Israel to disappear. 
A front-page analysis of Palestinian and Israeli societal attitudes by Jodi Rudoren provides an exemplar of how the newspaper inverts the truth, cherry-picks citations, omits relevant and crucial information to stack the deck against Israel and portray it as the primary culprit in the conflict. 
Free Arabs is a web site with an independent streak. But on one topic, it seems unable to buck the trend.

Why does The New York Times consider a story about the shooting of a reportedly violent man at an Israeli border crossing more important that the killing of Mexican citizens near the US border or Africans near the Spanish border? 
The New York Times isn’t waiting for negotiations to sort out complex questions about Jerusalem. It already has all the answers — for example, that Atarot in northern Jerusalem must belong to the Palestinians. (Updated: NY Times corrects.)
