So intent is Omar Abdel-Baqui on depicting an American-Palestinian enclave in the West Bank as "a little slice of Americana" that he glaringly excises a highly revealing and very un-American detail: a call for the violent erasure of the entire state of Israel.
Propagandistic headlines of the past week that exaggerate suffering and put the blame only on one side have most likely served only to prolong the war, along with the misery on both sides.
Instead of equivocating on the target and source of the violence, the media should consider the role that the many false stories about Israel that have circulated since the start of the war have played in inciting such violence.

The growing, undeniable tilt against Israel in Wall Street Journal news coverage since the October 7 Hamas attack on the Jewish state appears connected to a change in focus under a new Editor-in-Chief, Emma Tucker. The Journal now routinely terms all of the West Bank "Palestinian territory" -- an error previously corrected in the Journal's own pages.
It’s one thing to compare Israel’s invasion of Gaza in its battle to upend the Hamas regime with the US invasion of Iraq as it fought to overthrow Saddam Hussein. It is another to pretend to do so.
Hamas-controlled health authorities have been claiming -- for weeks -- that Gaza hospitals will have to close in a day or two for lack of power, and this has been repeated by numerous media outlets. But what Hamas is omitting is that thanks to a UN/WHO program Gaza hospitals have extensive solar panel installations on their roofs, which can supply a substantial portion of their power needs.
