Accuracy and accountability are among the most important tenets of journalism. In combination, they mean media organizations are expected to publish or broadcast forthright corrections after sharing inaccurate information. The following corrections are among the many prompted by CAMERA’s communication with reporters and editors.

 

CAMERA Prompts CNN.com Correction on Jerusalem

Following communication from CAMERA staff, CNN editors corrected an online article which had wrongly stated that Israel captured Jerusalem in 1967. The error and correction follow:

UPDATED: CNN Ignores Hit Jeep, Injured Israelis

In response to communication from CAMERA, CNN editors vastly improve yesterday's egregious coverage of Gaza violence which had omitted mention of Israeli injured, had stated that an Israeli army jeep was "target[ed]" whereas it was actually hit, and had reversed cause and effect.

CNN Terms Palestinian Sniper and Accused Killer a “Political Party Member”

Reporting on Israel's missile attack on a PLO militia commander, CNN deceived viewers by characterizing the man merely as a member of a "political party," despite the fact that he was thought responsible for killing three Israeli soldiers, and for nightly sniper fire at an Israeli neighborhood in Jerusalem.
