Beware of Apparent Hoax E-mail from “Hasidic Jew” Celebrating London Bombings

An e-mail message celebrating the London terror bombings from a self-described "hasidic Jew," has been sent to members of the British Parliament and was also cited on the blog of the left-wing British newspaper, The Guardian. While the e-mail seems to be a hoax, it is important to note that even if it turns out to be genuine, the writer speaks only for himself, and in no way represents any segment of the Jewish community of the United States or Britain.

Double Standards on International Terrorism at the New York Times and AP

There is a striking double standard in terminology being used by many news organizations, such as the New York Times and Associated Press, regarding the terror attacks in London and the terror attack in Netanya, Israel. "Terror" and "terrorists" are liberally used in articles about the London bombing, while the articles about the Netanya terror attack studiously avoid the use of terror terminology.

UPDATED: AP Corrects: Blair Didn’t Link Israel, Bombings

In the aftermath of the London terror attacks, the media's scapegoat-Israel tendency has again reared its head. The Associated Press issued multiple stories reporting that British Prime Minister Tony Blair gave an interview on BBC Radio yesterday in which he linked the attacks against his country to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In fact, Blair never mentioned Israel or the Palestinians.

New York Times Reports as Fact Anti-Israel Propaganda

Covering the recent controversy over building and demolition orders in the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem, New York Times reporter Christine Hauser credulously repeated false allegations from the extremist anti-Israel group which calls itself the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions.

Updated: Letters and Limitations

Letters with provocative ideas that threaten the status quo may be inflammatory, but thay are an entirely appropriate part of civil discourse. Such ideas should–and will–be published as letters to the editor in mainstream papers. There is, however, a line that most decent publications understand should not be crossed.

Washington Post Sanitizes Hamas

Errors of emphasis, omissions, imbalance, and lack of context make a story by the Post's new Israel correspondent highly misleading, and show that a new correspondent is not enough; the paper needs a new paradigm in its Arab-Israeli coverage.
