Over the past six years, Hezbollah's use of the media against Israel has intensified. In addition to Al Manar television, the organization's official propaganda instrument, Hezbollah utilizes other Arab news stations and even the international press. Yitzhak Laor claims that, in the first Lebanon war, the IDF "blew up the mosque in Ain al-Hilweh with hundreds of people barricaded inside, including children." His own source does not support his baseless claim, the latest Laor blood libel.
Jonathan Tasini's comments on Israel are not anti-Semitic. They're just wrong. And by turning to this anti-Israel partisan to "inform" its readers about the Middle East, Playboy does damage to its own credibility.
In July 2006, Los Angeles Times correctly reported that Hezbollah was the first to launch projectiles in last summer's war. Since then, the newspaper has twice refused to correct erroneous claims that Israel was the first to fire.
