Can a contest about the politically and emotionally charged topic of Jerusalem's future be neutral and fair? Not if, as with MIT's Just Jerusalem contest, the contest's staff is distinguished by extreme anti-Israel activists. 
In an abridged version of a Los Angeles Times feature on Jerusalem, Columbus Dispatch editors expunged humanizing details about Israel, preserved those about Arabs, and deleted references to Arab responsibility for the city's de facto divisions. 
A series ostensibly about the Six-Day War was, instead, a line-up of broadcasts largely denouncing Israel for occupation, settlements and allegedly wrongful house demolition and land seizure in the West Bank. 
The BBC News Web site's series about obstacles to peace in the Middle East finds one culprit: Israel. Terrorism and incitement to genocide are not part of the one-sided equation. 
Syndicated columnist Bob Novak once again proves himself incompetent to write about Christian Arabs, their status in Palestinian and Israeli societies, and Israeli policy toward them. A recent series of articles in the Guardian by Chris McGreal charges that Israel is an apartheid state similar to the old South Africa. According to the paper, "after four years reporting from Jerusalem and more than a decade from Johannesburg before that, the Guardian's award-winning Middle East correspondent Chris McGreal is exceptionally well placed to assess this explosive comparison." Explosive the comparison certainly is, especially because a CAMERA investigation reveals that Mr. McGreal's arguments are uniformly based either on materially false assertions, or on assertions wrenched grotesquely out of context.
