AFP Doctors Story on U.S.-Syria Deal
In a case of apparently blatant manipulation, AFP has removed a key item in a reported list of four U.S. demands being made of Syria in the wake of the Hariri assassination. More than one AFP story omits the call to "stop support for militant groups like Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad."
Hezbollah Revisionism at the AP. Again.
A May 11 Associated Press dispatch about a Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon minimizes Hezbollah's history of violence against Israel.
WASHINGTON POST-WATCH: March Madness
More AP Errors, No AP Corrections
As the chronicle of AP errors continues, so do the questions about the wire service's commitment to accuracy. A striking geographical error and a bungled description of an Israeli cabinet minister are the latest.
AP Adopts False Hezbollah Claims
The self-declared mission of the Associated Press (AP) is to provide news "of the highest quality, reliability and objectivity with reports that are accurate, balanced and informed." AP's code of ethics calls for "impartial treatment of issues." Why then does the wire service adopt the position of Hezbollah — a group designated by the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, presenting the terrorist group's propaganda as fact?
Reuters and AP Echo Hezbollah
Reuters and Associated Press covered the slaying of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah terrorists on July 20, 2004 in reports that could have come straight from Al Manar, Hezbollah's main propaganda engine.
