“Truthful, not neutral” has been Christiane Amanpour’s self-declared motto. Neutral, she certainly isn’t. Over a long career, she has demonstrated a bias against Israel.
Transcript:
Amanpour: Truthful, not neutral.
That’s Christiane Amanpour’s motto. But has the CNN journalist lived up to a commitment to the truth over her long career?
For decades, CAMERA has documented how Amanpour’s coverage demonstrates a bias against Israelis.
Amanpour: Two sisters, Israeli-British sisters, they were killed in a shootout, and now the mother has died of her injury.
Amanpour: So the latest after an Iranian barrage into Israel that struck near a hospital and caused damage…
Amanpour: You’re an Israeli. I don’t know whether you were in Israel at the time, but you said that this red line in the neighboring country of Syria where all these atrocities were being committed, really made you angry and upset. And many will want to know, you know, do you feel equally angry about the horrible situation that’s going on in your own country?
Zumlot: Israel has got to go. If not now, then I don’t think-
Amanpour: You mean the occupation?
Zumlot: Yes.
Amanpour: The latest polls from the Palestinian side also show that they want a peaceful two-state solution to coexist with you.
What polls? Every major recent poll showed exactly the opposite: low support for a two-state solution.
A December 2022 poll from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research even found a majority supported return to “armed intifada.” If Amanpour had different polling data supporting her contention that most Palestinians wanted peaceful coexistence with Israelis, she didn’t share it.
After decades with the network, Christiane Amanpour recently announced she will be leaving CNN in June 2027.
Her long history of reporting on Israel and the Palestinians demonstrated that, just as she promised, she was certainly not neutral.
